A hearty and satisfying meal that is easy to prepare, combining tender, slow-cooked beef with melted cheese.
Ingredients
Scale:
- 3 pounds beef chuck roast
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 8 hoagie rolls
- 8 slices provolone cheese
- Optional: sliced jalapeños or other toppings
Instructions
- Place the beef chuck roast in the slow cooker, layering with sliced onion and minced garlic.
- Combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, dried thyme, black pepper, and salt in a mixing bowl. Pour over the beef.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until beef is tender. Alternatively, cook on high for about 4 hours.
- Remove the beef and shred it. Return to the slow cooker and let it sit to soak up flavors.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut hoagie rolls in half.
- Layer shredded beef on the bottom half of each roll and top with a slice of provolone cheese.
- Place sandwiches on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven, add any desired toppings, close the sandwiches and serve warm.
