Warm up this winter with a delightful cup of Raspberry Hot Chocolate. Combining the rich, creamy flavor of chocolate with the bright and tangy taste of raspberries, this rich chocolate drink is perfect for cozy evenings by the fireplace or festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups whole milk or dairy-free alternative
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Whipped cream for topping
Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder for topping
Fresh raspberries for garnish
Mint leaves (optional) for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the Raspberry Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the raspberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the raspberries break down and the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
Heat the Milk and Cream: In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium-low until warm, but do not let it boil. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.
Melt the Chocolate: Once the milk mixture is warm, add the semi-sweet chocolate chips and cocoa powder. Stir continuously until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 3-5 minutes.
Add Flavorings: Stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Taste the hot chocolate and adjust sweetness as desired.
Combine the Raspberry Sauce: Drizzle about 2-3 tablespoons of the raspberry sauce into the hot chocolate mixture. Stir gently to swirl the raspberry flavor throughout the drink.
Serve: Pour the Raspberry Hot Chocolate into mugs. Top generously with whipped cream, drizzling more raspberry sauce over the top, and finish with chocolate shavings, fresh raspberries, and mint leaves.
