Homemade frozen yogurt is a delightful and refreshing treat that can be made easily at home. This guide will take you through the process of creating your own creamy, delicious frozen yogurt with various flavor combinations and toppings.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups plain yogurt (Greek yogurt provides a creamier texture, while regular yogurt creates a lighter feel)
¾ cup sweetener (honey, agave syrup, or sugar; adjust according to your taste preference)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups fresh or frozen fruit (strawberries, bananas, mangoes, or blueberries)
¼ cup chocolate chips (optional)
¼ cup crushed nuts (optional)
¼ cup shredded coconut (optional)
Fresh fruit slices (for topping)
Granola (for topping)
Honey or chocolate drizzle (for topping)
Chopped mint leaves (for topping)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine the plain yogurt, sweetener, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and well-blended.
If using fresh fruit, wash, peel, and chop into small pieces. For frozen fruit, allow it to thaw slightly before adding it to the yogurt mixture. Blend the fruit into the yogurt until you achieve your desired consistency.
Fold in any additional ingredients, such as chocolate chips, nuts, or coconut.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the yogurt mixture for at least 1 hour.
If using an ice cream maker, pour the yogurt mixture into the machine and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually around 20-30 minutes.
If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the yogurt mixture into a shallow dish and freeze it. Stir every 30 minutes for the first 2-3 hours.
Once frozen to your desired consistency, scoop the homemade frozen yogurt into bowls or cones. Add your favorite homemade yogurt toppings.
