Ingredients
Scale:
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
- 1/4 cup (30g) chopped nuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) caramel sauce for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) baking pan by greasing it lightly or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula or wooden spoon.
- If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips or chunks and nuts.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Tap the pan on the counter to remove any air bubbles.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10-15 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Cut into squares and serve.
